Piatra Craiului Trips – The gate to a whole new world of adventures
Piatra Craiului Trips – The Piatra Craiului Massif with its lonely ridges has been standing guard for thousands of years, like a natural stone fortress, in the Southern Carpathians, on the western and north-western side of the Rucar-Bran corridor.
Mountain roads, alpine meadows covered with stonecrop, daisies and hornbeam, rocky vegetation with the Pietra Craiului Carnation, a plant that grows only in Romania, countless valleys and the houses of the locals in Măgura and Peștera, the two villages within the boundaries of the Piatra Craiului National Park, complete the landscape. Piatra Craiului National Park means Dâmbovicioarei Gorges, Brusturelui Gorges, Avenul Vlădușca, Creasta Dințată or Prăpăstiile Zărneștiului. We have a whole range of different Piatra Craiului Trips available for you and your whole family, 100% personalized, should you wish to visit the area.
Piatra Craiului National Park
Piatra Craiului National Park is one of the most important and well-known national monuments of nature. It is located in the Southern Carpathians and includes the entire Piatra Craiului Ridge, framed between the Bucegi, Leaota, Iezer and Făgăraș mountains. Spread over the counties of Brasov and Arges, the fairytale site includes areas belonging to the localities of Zărnești, Moeciu (with its beautiful Măgura and Peștera), Bran, Rucăr and Dâmbovicioara. The park protects and shelters more than 500 hectares of unspoilt pastures on the ridge. Choosing one of our Piatra Craiului Trips will take you straight into the heart of this marvellous place. There is also the Bat Cave and ten other nature reserves, all of which complete the strict protection area of Piatra Craiului National Park.
Mountain orchid and carnation, the specific flowers of the Piatra Craiului
From north to south, east to west, from spring to autumn, Piatra Craiului is an explosion of colour. The park is home to almost a third of the plant species found in Romania, with a total of 1,170 of the 3,136 spontaneous species recorded nationwide. In addition, 181 plant species are included on the red list as endemic, rare or vulnerable species. If you have an eye for beauty and would like a professional English speaking mountain guide to show you around, choose one of our Piatra Craiului Trips today. You will be enchanted by the land, the views, and the knowledge our well-prepared guides have. However, you will not be allowed to take any of the flowers home, because most of them are protected by law. But of course, taking pictures is, indeed, encouraged.
